Well it’s round 2 of the NHL playoffs and not to boast or anything, but my first round picks did go 7 for 8.

In the words of the vain Lebron James, I will now “bring my talents” to predicting round 2, if you didn’t use my first rounds on the betting lines then you’d be crazy to miss out twice.

Western Conference

Vancouver Canucks vs. Nashville Predators
The Canucks overcame perhaps there biggest nemesis in the modern era, in theatrical fashion. They fought through serious and frightening adversity and I don’t expect their momentum to falter just yet. The Predators are good, but without any goal scorers—Renne and Weber can’t do it all.

San Jose Sharks vs. Detroit Red Wings
This series will definitely one to behold and is sure to be the offensive thriller that the Nucks-Preds series won’t be. I picked the Sharks from the beginning because I think they’re one of the hungriest teams out there. A good combination of savvy veterans and young guns, the aging Wings will have their hands full.

Eastern Conference

Washington Capitals vs. Tampa Bay Lightning
The Capitals far exceeded my expectations in round 1 and I won’t make the mistake of selling them short again. They have solid lines, gritty defense, and an Alexander Ovechkin who displays leadership and a team first, winning attitude. Sorry Stamkos, Ovi’s hungry.

Boston Bruins vs. Philadelphia Flyers
The Bruins were embarrassed by the Flyers last year in their miraculous 4 game comeback, so expect them to be driven this time around. That being said, the Flyers possess unprecedented firepower on the scoring front and guys like Giroux and Van Riemsdyk are really coming into their own after last seasons run. Although I picked the Bruins to make the final at the end of the regular season, I’m giving the Flyers the edge on this one.
